Default my brother got stopped in northern NY for going 86 in a 65...

problem is, we both know he was cruising at 76 not 86.. We weren't going to argue with the cop, but it really is curious how he clocked us at just over 20 above the limit, how convenient.

Anyways, we're sure we weren't doing any more than 76 bec we had the cruise control set.

Any advice on how to fight this? What a hassle.

Default Go to the dealership, tell them the cruise control isn't working properly...

then show the service report to the judge in court. With proof of a legitimate mechanical failure, he might let you go. Other then that, you're screwed. Cops record every word of your conversation when they pull you over. If you didn't deny the speeding at the time he pulled oyu over, you can't deny it months later in court.

Default Nowadays most cops are mic'ed. And yes every traffic stop is recorded...

they also make personal notes on paper when they get back to the car. Ever wonder why you see cops STILL pulled over even after the person they ticketed has driven away? It's because they are writing down notes about the stop.
