and Ive only had it one year. nuts.
Where can I get a replacement for a better price other than Dell?
Are third party batts ok or a bad idea?

3rd party batteries are fine
only so many people make them anyway, dell probably buys them from there anyway.
See if Dells site has a battery reconditioning application. Sometimes you can run that and it'll reset the chip that tells the battery if its charged. Also check if its on the recall list. you may be able to get one for free.

I am in the middle of a bad experiance with a 3rd party right now...
Ordered a new battery through etronicspal.com (or something like that). It says it is for the Inspiron E1505... yet it does not fit. The bottom of the original one is lower on one side than the other... the battery that came looks identical but does not have that lip, so it does not completely fit down in. Returning it has been a real PITA as their service sucks, and still can't tell me if they have the correct one.
