Default out of state used car purchase question..... purchasing car from outside of Connecticut,

I may purchase a vehicle out of state and need to transport the vehicle back home,
may not have use of the owner's plates...
from what I can understand, I don't know if I can get a transport plate in CT without owning the vehicle, having insurance, and other factors... what have others done?

Default simple..

First have your insurance company cover the car and get an ID tag.

Purchase it on a weekday and go to that state's local DMV for a temp plate.

OR..Put on 1 tag from one of your own cars and simply drive it home, making sure you have the "Bill of sale" registration, and INsurance ID card at all times.

Default If you need to leave it at my place for a few days, you're welcome to.

In other words, buy the car, park it here, go home and register/get tags, come back and fetch it.

Default Just be aware..from what I was told after I did it, if you get caught with another

plate on the car you are transporting, like from one of your other cars, it can be a big deal, like felony big deal. Whereas if you are driving with no plate, but obviously with paperwork from the transaction, there would still be a fine but that's about it. Safest way is with temp plate which means doing the transaction and then going to MV and then going to get the car. Serious PITA.

This info is from my conversation with a local police officer in town. True or not? I have no idea.
