Default Service Cost of Audi

Hi,

I am buying a 2000-02 Audi, and this is going to be my first.

Can anyone give me an idea of the basic service cost of Audi thats most regularly done, like oil change/ filter, brakes, timing belt, water pump etc. Is it comparable with a Honda Civic/ Accord, I know a friend told me his Honda costs him $20 for oil or brake service.

I am new, so if this sounds off, please educate me.

Default Which Audi are you considering?

You can start by reading the B5 FAQ in my signature, it applies to 2000-2001 A4 models and may give you an idea of what you're looking to get into.

Default It does not talk about the costs.

Nice FAQ... but it does not talk about the service cost estimates. Can anyone give me an idea how much do brake , oil change and regular service costs for an Audi when compared with a Honda or any Japanese/ American car?

Thanks.

Default Typically Japanese cars are less expensive to maintain than German cars.

A Lube/oil/filter at an Audi dealership can exceed $100.

Default Look at it like this....

The Audi costs more to start off when new.

If you are looking at a tubo motor,(1.8T, 2.7T) then synthetic oil is a must.

MANN filters are also better. You can't really use Jiffylube and a purolator filter..they just are not built the same.

Brakes are always going to be more. Rotros don't get resurfaced. They get replaced or they continue to be used untill they start warping..then you replace them.

The elctronics of an Audi ARE more costly than others as well.

While you can get service for a Japanese car most anywhere, with an Audi, especially turbos, you are best off with an AUDI TRAINED INDEPENDANT SHOP.

Audis are not for the faint of wallet.

But then again they sure drive, handle and feel better than a japanese car. (IMHO)
