Let's talk Labor Day Weekend traffic for a minute.
Last year at this time I was working so many hours that I didn't have time to pay any attention to what traffic was doing. My schedule meant that we left at 5pm on Friday with the rest of the poor saps. It took us two hours to get to Mountlake Terrace. From Wallingford. No surprise, we knew what we were getting into. The entire drive to Whistler took around 7 hours IIRC.
This year I can leave anytime on Thursday, and my gf works from home so she'll have some flexibility too. What is the prevailing wisdom here? Is it best to make a break for it the second she gets off work, or wait it out a little and head off later in the evening, say 7ish? We're headed towards Whistler again, FWIW.
Basically just wondering what the Thursday pattern typically is heading north for this holiday.

FWIW, we're heading east, leaving as early as possible Thurs., and
coming back VERY early Tuesday morning, to start work around 10:00 am. I'll do anything to avoid traffic...
As for going North, I think the earlier you can leave the better. Traffic can still suck at 8:00 pm through Everett...no idea about Bham or the border though.
