Default 2000 DBW Stage III first 45 mins in the saddle impressions........uh long 8-)

First of let me say something about this "Place" we have chosen to abide.

The Cyberworld is a strange place to try and communicate!!! Probably like sending smoke signals when its windy!!! I bet alot of tribal confrontations have been started like that?!
And I'm NOT kidding!
So, all things aside, Audi On!!

Now, to the DBW Stage III kit.

Yep, Hauls ***! (pardon me moderators, it makes the point clearer 8-)

I'm not sure if all of the aethstetic details are as good as they can get, little hoses exposed to heat. Around the air box does'nt seem as clean as OEM. No biggie, for now. It will get delt with.

Motormount, Solid as a Rock. No Vibes here.
Or anything that I'd call annoying. Felt it more at 85mph cruising, than anything at idle.

Performance, now I've only driven 45 mins. Highway, and City streets.

Way peaky (not "linear") in 1st & 2nd, that can be
tuned down.
Leave at a green light, give is some peddle, at 3000rpm it does go BOOM right up and beyond my old 5800rpm shift point. Shift to 2nd, BOOM same thing! I'd hope for Turbo to start kicking in around 2300-2500, that just seems more controllable?? (My GIAC ver.PO8) But, this is a BIG Turbo (the turbine are twice the diamater as KO3) and there is lag, no biggie.

3rd into 4th, definately a favorite!! WOW! Go into 4th, Yes I am WAY Illegal now! To say what "really" going into 5th is all about, will need a Track, or just get really really lucky to not get caught on the highway!!! (If I can find the room)

My 2.25" Borla, sounds un-believable now!!!
Maybe, maybe not, but going to a 2.5" exhaust system, what ever that might offer....you WILL NEVER be able to use it on the street!
Just my opinion. (you experience may differ?)
On the track, Yep probably.

I understand the install (I am soooo glad I did'nt try it 8-) is pretty tight to get to stuff. But, it went well. It's in, and running, and running very well!

A couple of folks have offered me thier Phone Numbers at Home or Cellular....Long Distance Service has been taken hostage due to my expenditure of my Mod Bug habit (I'm in a program, now!)

So, I will call you when I get home!!
I felt comfortable to post this before a call (I tried, and service did'nt go through??? I don't know why??) So, I have NOTHING "Negative" to say about this kit, anyone, or what I experienced in my short drive here to my office to post this!!

Have a Good weekend!
Go Stanford!!!
(wierd?? I did'nt even go to college??)

Audi on!

Default 8-)

second impressions...similar to first.

Oil temp is NOT lower than before??
Don't know what weight, brand installed.

MPG on the in-dash computer says I'm getting 31 MPG???? this cannot be correct, but sources say YES!? Hi-Perf Econo Car ?? 8-)

Showed an S4......not one of US an AW'ers (Car & wheels filthy!) He had a coasting start at a green light, 1st (whoosh / whoah) 2nd (whoosh / whoah) 3rd...........Not a race, but he did look over when that damn Turbo spooled right on by.

Have a Nice day!

ps. I found out Motormount NOT installed yet!?
No wonder it felt "smooth like stock" More info on that to come........

Default NOT installed?? damn, that's a lot of torque you're throwing down now on the stock mount.

It will feel SO much better having that HP with the APR mount.

Default 5th ain't for the track

5th is for gas mileage. Track cars don't have a gear which is similar to the 5th in your car. They don't need it. You don't spend very long at speeds that high on the track.

Glad you like your Stage III kit so much. Sounds great.

Default Mount, aside.....

It Survived, Auto-X......

The Boost, needs to be "peddle input"!!!!

Why would anyone "need" Turbo thrust at 3000rpm+???
It's "un-manageable" too much, too late!!!

Even for street!!!!

Now, "Tuner" being "Audi, Performance, Racing"

Spool up Boost "earlier" at 2300, NOW you have a "Street" & "Track" set-up!!!!!

I lost, 2 sec.in Auto-X, part "my" fault, part "program" fault.

But, "I" placed well, but, could have done "alot" better!!

I'm Happy!!!
But, "not" there Yet!!!!

Richard.

Default You're "right" one does not use 5th on the Track.......

But, you don't spend "all" of your time in 3rd......"either"

It will get worked out!?
