I don't think so... 36Khp@98 rpm = 1.9 million lb-ft of torque.

The propeller may spin that slowly, but the turbine sure doesn't. Reduction gears. Lots of 'em.

Default I DONT THINK SO - I KNOW SO- been there done that thanks

Yes the bigger ship 284,824MT carrying capacity (2,000,000Bbls)is a Steam ship with a huge turbine. Not sure of the rpm of the turbine.
However similar ships were retrofitted with twin V24 medium speed pielsticks (approx 400rpm red line) clutched to one shaft. Prop turned at around 86rpm MEP.
Each engine putting out about 18,000 bhp. I was one of those ships, I know.
Impressive in my books.
A couple of years ago I sailed on a ship, less than two thirds the size(146,878MT), that had a 7 cyl.two stroke directly coupled to the prop shaft, no gears, that produced 20,230Bhp @83 rpm ( the engine did 83 rpm ).
What's the torque ???.

So be nice, it was meant to be a light hearted bit of fun/interest.

Default how much torque do you have to have to use a 30 degree prop to move a tanker?

Might not be that outlandish to need a million or two.
