Default Advice wanted on aftermarket intake for 2.8 30v

I know this topic has been discussed lately, but most of the discussion has been on prices and installation.

Can anyone who has done this mod comment on how useful it is? Obviously I don't expect a lot of power. My main concern is fighting the *decrease* in performance which occurs in hotter weather, which I believe is intake-related. Of course any car is slower in hotter, humid air, but the difference in the 2.8 seems extreme. I have trouble keeping up with minivans at stop lights without spooling out to at least 4.5k in 1st when it's above 90 out.

Any thoughts on the intake or other advice would be appreciated.

Dan

Default Don't think the intake will make much difference. But....

Here's a URL to a tech write-up for a slight mod to the MAF for a 1997 Audi A6 2.8L

https://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng2.shtml</a

I'm seriously considering it, but I've still got a year left of warranty to burn first. :-)

Default crap, my car throws a check engine light every 4 months

How many secondary injection control valves and MAFs do I want to pay for out of my own pocket because Audi voided my warranty?

Damn useless OBD-II.

Default Geez. I get less codes than that, and my car...

has a whole aftermarket supercharger in it. Indeed it really never has thrown a code now that I have the G2.

I'm lucky in that my dealer didn't void my warranty - they know the law. And they know that keeping us types happy means more sales. So a plug for them: Buy from Rector Audi in Burlingame Ca, and make sure Andrea C. is your service manager. No they don't service the aftermarket stuff. But they don't give you crap for doing it either.

All cars made in '96 and up are OBDII. Zain's is a 98 I think.
