Default Aftermarket tachs. What and where did you wire it to? I am using a SPA wired into the

wh/gn on the coil amp, I have used this before for a 3 stage shift light with good success. However my tach is idling right and the shift lights appear accurate, but the needle crashes back to 0 after 4500rpm's. Tach? Wiring? I'm looking for another angle.

Default I use the Green/blue tach wire that is on the back of the cluster in the first plug

nearest the drivers door for my shift light. But this is on a A4 1.8t. Been using this for my shift light for almost 2 years. BTW which 3 stage shift light are you using.

Default SPA which includes a digital telltale, same as my current tach...what kind of tach are you using

and what did you have to make it see? The SPA by being hooked to the coil amp had to be programed to see a one cyl. engine. It's quite a versatile tach., it can go from 1 to 16 cyl. engines. I will try the gr/bl to see if it makes a difference, but I would like to what tach you are using.

It's also an A4 98.5 1.8T, but I'm down to 6 wires out of the ECU.

Default On your 98 the wire on the back of the cluster is just solid green.

I just use a Autometer shift light for drag racing. But I really dont use it anymore for my old setup since I went by sound/feel anyway. I might have to use it again but I will need to get a new set of shift pill since I will be shifting at 8k-8500 rpms with the 2.0 liter motor.

Default Gn/bl on the gray mod, 98.5, has to program the tach for 4 cyl. instead of 1 cyl. off the

coil amp. Works much better with the stepper mtr. in the tach.
