97 1.8T, non DBW. Needs a front 02 sensor.

Rumor has it a standard 4 wire bosch sesnor works fine if you solder in the OEM connector, but there are a few models posted in the archives. Who here has done it, was it successful, and can you give me the part #?

Worst case I'll buck up for a stock one, but, can't hurt to ask.

Thanks!

Default For the S4s, people have been splicing VW sensors...

P/N: 06A 906 262 Q

They are $25 ea. as opposed to $150 ea. for the S4 sensors. Might work for the A4 as well.

FYI, a tech I spoke to told me that Bosch said (in one of their training seminars) to only crimp the O2S wires not solder them.

Depending on the length of the wire needed, you might just be able to repin the Audi connector with the pins from the VW connector and forgo any crimping or soldering.

Can the same sensor be used to replace the lambda sensor in the DP? If not do you have a P/N?

Default Lambda sensor and O2 sensor are the same thing.

In the S4, the one I listed can be used in both the pre-cat and post-cat locations. Dunno if the same holds true for the A4s, but I would think that it would.

Yeah. About $0.50 worth of plastic. Gotta love Audi for that. =/

Default If you crimp, make sure you seal it up....

or it will corrode.

They make crimp connectors that have heat shrink tubing around them, use something like that, or put some liquid electrical tape on them.
