Default I had something similar happen. The smell I got wa like a melting plastic and it was very strong.

My problem was that a piece of I don't know drop cloth plastic had gotten stuck under my car by the muffler. It began to melt and the smell was very strong. What a pain to clean up when I found it.

How high are your oil temps?

Default About 240F, may have peaked at 245. Highest I've ever seen it.

Usually doesn't go much higher than 230-235 in the summer, if I'm getting on it a lot on the street. But this was much more sustained, *****-to-the-walls, driving than my usual.

Under normal driving with just an occasional blast of boost it's pretty much rock solid at 225 once fully warmed up (takes a while in the winter).

I use Mobil 1 10W-30, if that makes a difference.

Default Those temps sound okay.

I've actually reached 250 on track. But I don't get that glowing red. I may get a little glow in the turbo housing, but not the whole thing like you describe.

Best of luck with it,
Rich

Correction: Normal driving oil temp is 200-210F, not 225. Not sure what I was thinking.
