I am looking into chipping my 99.5 2.8 QMS when the warranty expires next month. I've noticed a huge difference in price and touted performance claims from the diff chip companies. For instance T.A.P. claims 18 hp for $495 while Neuspeed P-chip offers 12hp for only $199. Whassup with that? I know there's also GIAC, AMS, and others.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I have the Nuespeed chip. I got it from Greedspeed. I sent in the ECU when on vacation, they put the new chip in and sent it back. No troubles. It's worth the $150 or so I paid, but not more. The throttle response is better and there may be a bit more power. The annoying lag shifting into second was reduced. I don't know what more the TAP chip could give you.

My track experience told me that I have enough power, I needed more brakes.

BTW, the 12 hp is when you upgrade to a high flow intake filter as well as the chip. You already have the air filter upgrade. See what the TAP needs to add to get the 18 hp. I have never heard anything bad about Neuspeed on the board. I can't say that about TAP. (Although I'm sure they are great guys and instead of sueing me, if they sent me their chip I will swap it and tell everyone if the TAP chip is better!)
