Anyone use upgraded intake manifolds? (ie: Dahlback)

This what I have done...

Sorry for the fuzzy pic. This is my intake from a 93 urS4. It has been ported and polished, inside and out. The top was cut off and a new piece fitted that enlarged the interior capacity. I also had the tubes that give access to the lower mounting bolts drilled out. The throttle body went to Big Ed for the Big Bore mod that eliminated the ramp and added a new butterfly and rotation pin.

Is 10-15 hp worth $1700?
I only think that 10-15 hp is gained if your making over 500 hp with the stock manifold. Wont really help if your below that since the stock manifold does not have a flow issue at that point.

Huge difference between the transverse intake manifold
which has the TB on the very end vs the longitude intake manifold which has the TB on the side facing the #2 cylinder runner.
That manifold from Dahlback is pretty much just stock runners with a new box welded to it and is produced in Europe.

I knew they were different, but assumed since they are made for some 1.8T's
There might be demand or significant gain for ours. Guess not for the price!
PS Is Juan away? I havent heard from him in a while.....

Hp inc. not what it was made to do, the intake is all about torque and equal flow

The hp gain is not what the intake is about, that is what bigger turbos do:-)
These intakes were done to increase torque which they o very well and smooth the powerband which they also do, and to feed the cylinders which they also seem to do. I personally think it is worth it to keep from running a lean cylinder, the extra torque was a bonus. It is definately the last thing I decided to do on the engine, but it was well worth it to me. Look at the dyno figures of the different cars at the 1.8t challenge if they ever publkish them and you will see the difference it makes. I beleive the int./exh. mani is the big diff. in the torque #'s as I beleive the cams are the diff. in the hp #'s in most cars. I posted some Pics of my manifold, which was the first done.
Just my opinion.
