Default ATTN: 1/4 mile people....

Hey guys (and girls if any) I was wondering what some of you run in the quarter that may have a stage 2, 3, or whatever. I currently drive a 96 Nissan Maxima and am considering purchasing my friends 95 Max because he has almost every mod except S/C. I was just thinking if it would be worth it in getting a 1.8T but I am hesitating because I've had a V6 for so long I'm not sure if I would want to go to a 4 cylinder.
If you can give me any info, it would be appreciated. I've just fallen in love w/ the audi recently.

My friend has a S/C 97 Maxima and loves his car, but rather get a 1.8T because of that "Quattro" and the fact that its fairly easy to bring your hp up to a reasonable level w/o spending a lot.

Default huh the 1.8 is a four banger?

trust me it drives like any V6
power is useful from 1800-6000 rpm
now thats a powerband, not like some asian import 4cyl engines where power is from 3500 and up

go for a test drive

Default moderate boost my hiney

Either you dropped a couple hundred pounds off the weight of your car, or you are developing 350+HP.

Which was it?

Default About 18psi.

Haven't dropped any weight yet, still waiting for my Carbon Fibre Hood, that will shed a little.
With 18psi of boost I am definately over the 300HP Mark.
I would like to run arount 350-360 Mark with 20 psi.
I can turn up the boost to about 28Psi, will that do you...
Boost is not everything.
You want to get as much power with as little boost as possible...

Default Thanks for the feedback guys....

Well, I went to go test drive the 1.8T but since I told the guy that I was planning on buying within a couple of months, he gave me the run around eventually not letting me test drive which pissed me off. I might have a buyer for my maxima in which I will buy my friends maxima, I might have to leave the audi as a future car. If I do end up getting an audi, it WON'T be from that guy.

Default there's only a couple ways to get significantly power

More boost, more revs, or different cams/heads.

I'm not saying boost is better than the other two.

It's just that 18psi is not moderate boost, 12psi is moderate boost. Heck, to Audi 8 psi is moderate boost. 18psi is high boost, almost very high boost. I say so because there are very few on this board who run more boost than that.

The person asking this question was trying to get an idea how fast he can go for how much money. By saying you run 13.4's (even though true) on moderate boost, you are implying to the original poster that you did so with minimal (presumably not too costly) mods. I don't know you well, but from what you say and what others say, your mods aren't minimal, and I would hazard a guess not cheap.
