Audi's new by-pass valve
#2
Actually,
The newest version is a 710 N BPV. It was made to go on the 225 TT's, and is good for between 1.3-1.6 bar. Several people are using it in their A4's with success. Apparently has a much stiffer spring than the stock version and even the older updates. Cost is about $50 at your dealer.

Those have been failing just as fast as the E, F, G and now the N . . .
the valve is a poor design, at least for the 225 and any chipped engine. Some 225TT's are coming brand new with blown N valves

Well mine were shot on a new 2.7T
First time I hit 3K RPM with some engine load during break in period I got this loud vibration. Tech said the valves are functioning but defective (the noise). Dealer said "C" is the latest for the 2.7T and its not readily available.

Your tech is wrong on that . . .
the DV's are exactly the same for BOTH the 1.8t and the 2.7t engines, except the 2.7t uses two of them.
The part was recalled by VW at one point last year for all of their cars and Audi did the same for the 225, but never for any of the other cars with the same exact DV part number!
Each company has since recalled the recall notice that was sent out to the dealerships because they are under the false impression that the lastest DV at the time, the 'G' was the fix . . . well they are now up to 'N'! Guess what guys, that too is a POS!
The sad thing is, the 'N' failed in Europe even before it even made it to North America. TT owners were getting 'N' valves while we were on 'G' valves. The 'N' failed and AoA still imported the darn things!

Either the Forge or the Bailey. Both have been good on either engine.
<a href="http://www.stratmosphere.com">Stratmosphere</a> sells the Forge
<a href="http://www.awe-tuning.com">AWE-Tuning</a> sells the Bailey, though I think <a href="http://www.goapr.com">APR</a> is now also selling the Bailey.

forges have failed much more often than stock valves
So to say they have been good I think is just plain wrong.
They had problems early on and people said that was just early units. Then the problems went on a little longer and it turned out it was the plastic pistons melting. They have replaced them now, and people seem to think that they are good to go now. But how can you be sure, as they thought this last time?
Forges have been far less reliable than stock so far. Use any aftermarket BPV at your own risk.
