Default Best HP Increase and Upgrades for a lowly A6 4.2

What is the Best Chipping option for my unfortunately naturally aspirated beast?

I was also thinking LLtek's Cold Air Intake and then possibly a New Exhaust system.

Any other Ideas???

I also remember seeing on the boards a Silver thick and square swaybar install for my car. It was not the tubular swaybar tyope and it was under the car???

Thanks for any help.

Default No such thing as a "lowly" 4.2 V-8 . . .

Modding a normally aspirated engine requires measuring air flow rates to properly balance the system and pinpoint bottlenecks.

You will then need to do some porting and polishing the internals to increase breathability, lightening up all moving parts to reduce rotational mass, and intelligently improving the combusion process by making a lot of little improvements to the various subsystems, e.g., ignition system.

For this reason, many BMW owners have created the myth of requiring a second mortage on their homes to mod their cars.

However, normally aspirated car owners can affordably increase hp by up to 50% by learning some of the basics of engine tuning and doing it themselves. On my 2.8l 12v, I have increased hp from the stock 60 hp/liter to 90 hp/liter. On the 4.2l V-8, you make 300 hp stock or 70 hp/liter--not too shabby. If you increase that to 90 hp/liter you would make 380 hp.

The S8, which uses the same basic 4.2 liter V-8 engine makes 360 hp or 85 hp/liter. Why not figure out what parts Audi changed out to make the extra 60 hp and start there?!!! You could use completely OEM parts and get another 60 hp--no major customization necessary, just a tool kit and some elbow grease.

My $0.02!

Default The issue is room.

Its easy to see that a turbo setup could be used, just look at the RS6 which runs twin turbos on a 4.2 V8. Only problem is that they had to make the engine bay larger to allow the V8 and twin turbos to fit.

Default I think there is less room since the engine is tucked under the batter area

which the shock towers should be sitting in too. Even with the 2.7 twin turbo its a tight fit in the A6.

That sounds like a good idea. Where do I start to figure out the replacement parts?
