Default Brake bleeding

In a recent lift seesion, I bleed my (stock) brakes using the shop's compressed-air operated vacuum bleeding system. Is it possible to use a simpler pressure-based process to effectively bleed my brakes, in my own garage??

Default Yes, and you can make it for cheap

Motive makes an inexpensive one (germanautoparts.com sells it) for about $40-$50 or so.
I made one, using a write up from Jim Powell on the BMW boards. The same writeup has been posted here on AW. Cost was around $20, and it works just as well as the motive.

Default You have ESP dont you? I thought cars with ESP required a vag tool to actuate something...

...as part of the process.

Default You are correct, and ...

.
technically you do need a VAG tool to activate and flush the fluids from the ESP/ABS circuits during bleeding.

If you're like me, though, you bleed brakes more frequently than the minimum recommended by Audi. And if you're also like me, you occasionally activate both ABS and ESP in your more spirited driving. I just assume that the "old" fluid that gets released into the system will get removed the next time I bleed the brakes.
