Default can 5mm spacers cause a slight vibration in the steering wheel at speeds of 55mph or over?

why you ask...

my radons didn't fit because my brake pads were just replaced by the dealer... and the rims rubbed up ever so slightly against the caliper...

so i bought 2 5mm spacers for the front... however, i am feeling a slight vibration at speeds of 55 mph...

not that i can go fast because of my new tires.. but

is this not uncommon? the place where i had it installed said everything was torqued correctly... and the hubcentrics rings were all good....

they didn't really like the fact of the spacers and said that this is not uncommon for those with spacers....

opinions...???

thanks

Yes - I had same issue. Wear down the pads and pull spacers.

No...5mm is nothing. What else did you change?

Default You're wrong - this is a COMMON problem.

I tried my H&R 5mm spacers on my TOTALLY stock A6, w/stock rims/tires that were PERFECTLY smooth, just to prove it was the spacers. Vibrated from 55-62 ONLY with spacers. We were attempting to find if it was wheel imbalance on my new Radons. This was before suspension work - car was completely stock. Neither wheel set vibrates w/o the spacers - both do with.

Are these spacers hub-centric? If not, there is your problem

Default Common problem

I am reluctant to sell 5mm spacers to anyone because of this problem...very common among BMW owners who need the extra strut clearance for oversized tires.

I've had to bring in hubcentric 10mm spacers (H&R 10's and 12's are still not available thru Roland and the folks at H&R US).

These spacers run $100/pair and are TUV approved in Germany. I have them in 5x100 and 5x112 bolt patterns for VW & Audi. You'll also need longer lug bolts. SD
