Default Chip: APR 93 vs APR 91

Just a question but wouldn't the ECU compensate if you had an APR 93 chip and put 91 octane in it? The knock sensor should pull the timing. The GIAC chip does this so what is APR's reasoning. I have put 91 octane in my car with my 93 APR stage 1 chip and not had a problem.

Anybody got any ideas?

Default it'll compensate to a point, but all things being equal, the 93 file has more timing in it...

hence the reason it's tuned for a specific octane. As long as it's not 100deg outside and you're all stop/go driving, you should be fine...just don't push your luck.
