How bout phone experience?
Koni's have to be taken off to change the firmness. Not sure about the height.
H&R's don't have the ability to change the firmness, but you can leave them on the car to change the height. H&R told me the spring rates are 350 front and 400 rear.
B&G, I have no idea.
Intrax coilovers can be raised and lowered while on the car, but you will have to take them off to change the firmness. That is, once they come out. They will most likely sport a heavier spring rate too(~500 to 600 is what they told me).
My personal favorite will be the PSS-9's when the come out. You should be able to do all the adjusting with the coilovers on the car. Expect about 6 months till they are available for our cars though.
Hope that clears something up. I just got off the phone with a bunch of these companies today cause I guess I'm in the same situation as you.

Are you sure?....
I talked to them yesterday and they told me that they have three kits for the A4. They have the regular kit, the S4 kit, and the ultra performance kit. Bot neither the regular or the S4 kit had a spring rate of 500. The S4 had the same rear spring rate as the A4, but they just increased the front a little.

Try the Bilstein PSS9's. I've had them for a few months now and the ride quality is awesome...
They're height and 9-way damping adjustable. You can adjust the ride height fairly quickly by raising up either side of the car. You can adjust the damping without raising the car which is convenient. Take advantage of the strong dollar and buy it from Europe and import it (that's what I did). It'll cost you less than buying it from any of the local tuners.

Sounds like they are telling different things to different people. Someone here or in the A4 forum
spoke with them in the past 2 weeks and they said that they combined the 2 kits. There is now supposed to only be an A4/S4 kit. The rates were either 500 front and rear or 500/550. They still have the Ultra kit AFAIK.

Rates - what I got from H&R
29591-3 A4Q F=385 R=385
29471-1 S4 F=425 R=425
50011-1 UP A4Q/S4 F=625 R=625
I have seen other rates posted by other AWers. All I can say is that H&R rep quoted these rates to me.
