Default Continuing with Mods to Coupe Quattro... with question though..

I picked these up last nite. Couldn't resist. They were in good shape. Just dirty. I cleaned them up, and spray-painted them black with some hi-temp exhaust paint. They just look so pretty I don't want to put them on car. Got them for a good deal. I have a question though. Should i clean out the pipes with some sort of cleaner or chemical agent? Maybe just wash out with some soap and hot water. Seems that the 150+ thousand miles has added some black soot to insides of individual tubes. Just curious, and is it worth doing? Just want maximum flow out of these puppies. With new cold air intake, schrick cams, 2.5 inch brullen exhaust, hi flow cat, and these, the 20V should breathe properly. tsivas

Default Very Nice piece!

I'd use hot water and soap. But really its pointless to clean the inside unless there are very large deposits which can scale off. If you can get the soot off with hot water and soap, do so, but I wouldn't go that extra distance with a chemical cleaner for something that will get dirty in a matter of seconds.

Default Re: Not sure about the paint you sprayed on it but...

I'd buy a few cans of brake cleaner and be done with it! Just get the bulk of the shiet out as it will get all carbon'd up anyways.

Default I think what he is saying is that paint might be coming off : )

I think most high temp engine paint is only good to 800F or so. Did the paint have a rating on it? Looks pimp if it stays on.
