Default Could a damaged cat cause performance issues?

So I think that my cat is falling apart, getting a rattle when I lift off the throttle. Thought it was the turbo at first but I'm still making boost and it's been happening for a few weeks now. I'm also getting some weird pulse of air out of the exhaust when I lift the throttle. Could the failed cat cause me some performance issues or damage anything?

Default If the cat is plugged you will have too much back pressure between it and the turbo

which will cause a loss in power since the exhaust cant get out fast enough.
