Damaged turbo due to oil starvation.
Damaged my GT-25 due to oil starvation. Already checked oil feed line to turbo, seems ok but will replace with new line with new turbo. Engine oil pressure is ok.
Can anyone pls. help suggest on what else to check to make sure oil starvation problem won't damage new GT-25. Thanks.

Are you tracking your car?
Sometimes with certain degree embankments can cause oil movement in the pan where the pickup may not pick any oil up. But I have yet to hear of any 1.8s having that problem, but you never know....

Everyone has good points: we need more info...
Dis it coke, what did the bearing look like? What did you find in the lines? What is your egt/O2?
I would resolve all these questions before worring about a solution. Lots of easy solutions, but it depends on the problem(s).

ball bearings
Typical sleeve bearings require constant supply of high pressure oil to avoid wipe-out under load.
But ball bearings at very high speed like very little oil, and would not be hurt by a few sec's with no oil pressure due to pump starvation. U do need lots of flow to cool the shaft, with a small amount actually going to the brg. Tricky balancing act, as tiny orifices are more easily plugged.
I'd try to contact garrett directly, as well as your specific supplier.

Yes I fried the ball bearings!
A month ago, I fried my first GT-25. That particular turbo served me for almost two years. When my replacement turbo arrived I had it installed and run it ony for about 30 kilometers bfore it got coked off again!!! So in short I had two GT-25's similarly damaged in a span of a couple of weeks!!!! BOTH GT-25'S HAD ITS BEARINGS FRIED!!!. FYI, I don't do track time in my car although I get to drive it quite hard often when the traffic is light here in Manila (no speed limits). I have my third GT-25 (466541-0001) arriving in a few days so I am trying to find out whatis causing the damage.
