Default Denso Iridiums IK20 for 1.8t motors. Will I need to re-gap them?

there's been a little argument...and i really need to know what's up because i got a set burning a hole in my pocket.

will i be fine leaving them pre-gapped at .4
or will i need them regapped to .32?

why or why not? thanks.

Default Everyone ive heard has said they come at .40 and that is too much...

that you must regap down to .32. One guy recently posted about putting Densos in his car and it feeling sluggish, only to find out they were still at .40.

Cheers,
Sameer

Default that's the thread that got me in doubt. however i was talking with darkclouds4, and he told me to

leave it at .4, he had them re-gapped at .32 on his chipped a4 1.8t and it caused misfires. A friend left them at .4 on a GTI 1.8t is having no problems so far.

so i'm just wondering what's going on?!

i think i'm going to run them at .4 until something happens, then go to .34 - .32

what do u think? or should i just go bosch?

Try them and find out. If you start missing on the big end, regap them.

Default A chipped car has very different in-cylinder densities compared to any Stage 3 car.....

.40 will be too big Sameer. .32 is a good starting point.

Default Well..

..I had mine at .040" (out of the box gap) for a few months with no problems. Then, out of nowhere I started getting misfiring at WOT. Re-gapped to .032" and it was fine....for a while. More misfires at WOT, so I chunked 'em. Went with regular Densos (seen below, $1.39 a pop at Autozone) and haven't had a misfire since. Just not right for my set-up I guess ('97, MTM chip, Borla exhaust). Good luck
