Default Diagnosing power loss leads to cam gear position

While speaking with one of the mechanics I deal with he popped off the upper plastic cover to reveal the cam gear. When he lined up the crank he noticed the marks would line up exactly between the teeth.

My cam gear was set one half of a tooth retarded. How much of a difference, if any, would this make? The engine was replaced at 76k under warranty.

Would it be worth putting it the half a tooth advanced when I do the timing belt?

Default well... take this... when I had my cam gear perfect, my crank was 3/4" too far forward...

and it was like that for 50,000 miles... and I had no idea...

I have since reset it to normal, but I kept throwing a cam positioning sequence DTC...

but anyway... I had less low end power, but better high end... I would be confused when people would floor it in 5th gear and have power, but I had noticealbly better high end, like above 4K, it was faster... enough that people with the same engine (AWM) and the same mods more or less would be surprised and comment...

(basically, the cam chain tensioner was replaced by the dealer twice, and they never checked the timing... idiots)

I am back to correct timing right now, but I am thinking I will move to an adjustable cam gear and push it back a little bit back...

Default I'm going to throw in an adjustable cam gear soon

reatrding timing should move the tq curve to the right, advancing it should move it to the left.
