turbos are not effected by altitude

Default They are to a point, but not as bad as a NA car. If you dont believe me go race up in Denver

or ask anyone that races a turbo car up there.

So is that why all the records are set at tracks that are at sea level.

Default It depends on what they use to measure pressure...

If they measure the difference between ambient air pressure and boost pressure, then the turbo will lose just as much at altitude as a normally aspirated car will.

If they reference and absolute pressure reading, then the turbo will tend to make as much power at altitude as at sea leverl, except that boost pressure is NOT the only answer, its mass air flow that means the most. Check your MAF readings at sea level and then at 5000 feet and see...
