Dual Mass Flywheel Failure?
I'm in the middle of a tranny replacement for my car. I've found a donor transmission but my mechanic is saying that I need a new flywheel as mine is at risk of the two plates seperating. I don't have many mods to my car and I don't hit the track or drive the car very hard. With all the talk about flywheels in this forum I figure that this is the best place to ask for input.
Have any of you guys experienced or have heard of a DMFW failing?
TIA.

I'm figuring....
That my flywheel is fine but my mechanic is being cautious because he has a shelf full of Porche DMFW's in his shop. Coincidentally he does the majority of his work on Porche's. I did some research and found that the DMFW's on Porche's were problematic. Anyhow, I did find a good used flywheel with about 1/2 the mileage of my current flywheel for $100 Cdn.
Thanks for the replies.
