F*CKING SPEC!!!!
So I get a call from my shop today and they tell me that spec sent the wrong clutch! I told him to read the serial numbers to me that were written on the box. They matched the #'s for my car on the spec website which leads me to believe that they midlabeled the box. Great...so now I have to wait until Monday to contact spec, send them the incorrect clutch back, then wait for the new one to arrive, all the while my car is going to be sitting at the shop. Great.
I've been thinking though...why would spec write the correct serial #'s for a stage 3 clutch/flywheel for my 2001 A4 1.8T on the wrong box? Don't they have the kits organized??!! My shop said the splines of the clutch don't match up...I dont know what a spline is, but oh well. Is there a chance my shop is doing something wrong with the install? I'm almost positive they've installed spec clutches before, so I'm a bit confused.
Thanks Spec!

I second that.....Spec sucks...........
either its the wrong part, or the right part but it doesn't fit. Good luck lauching the car, that supposed 450ftlbs of torque the stage 3 is supposed to handle is a joke. My clutch was a year old, i launched at 4500 and the pressure plate split in half, destroyed the clutch, and the flywheel. all because of those bullsh@t rivets on the pressure plate. Good Luck

Others have said the same thing
and have even had the clutchs they bought tested to find out that they are not even close to the claimed pressure and much closer to what the stock pressure plate is.

I'm looking for an aftermarket clutch and LWFW...
I was leaning towards SPEC Stage II, but maybe I should reconsider. What you you guys think?

https://forums.audiworld.com/rockymtn/msgs/20482.phtml</a

Try the AWE Stage 2 (southbend) and skip the LWFW....
The flywheel will not net you any measurable gains. Just get the basic clutch and resurface your OEM flywheel.
I have this kit and it holds hard launches easily.

LWFW gains will only be felt on the track
where you never really stop and do rev match shifts. A LWFW is not made to be used for drag racing since it will need more clamping pressure then a clutch with a heavier flywheel, plus it will lose momentum during normal shifts.
