Default General question regarding cam advance

99 A4 1.8T qms no chip.
I'm about to do my T belt, If I set the cam two teeth to the right (CW) of the TDC mark on the valve cover, I figure I'm advancing about 13-14 degrees. Would that boost the low end power a bit?

Default If you add more timing you will need to add more fuel.

If you dont add more fuel you will end up running lean.

Default It's actually double that....

cam timing is in reference to the crank, and since the crank spins twice as fast as the cam, the actual timing advance would be ~14 degrees per tooth.

14 degrees is a lot. Usually it's adjust +/- 4-5 degrees at the most.

Default Not necessarily....

a 2 or 3 degree advance/retard in cam timing doesn't mean more or less air will be entering, the valve is still open for the same amount of time.

Default But the burn of the fuel will change since you are changing when you get spark.

Soon the spark the more fuel your going to need or the fuel will burn too soon and cause the car to ping.

Wouldn't the ECU compensate somewhat?

Default But the spark timing doesn't change....

Spark is timed off of the crankshaft, not the camshaft.
