Default GT25?

I've read about this GT25 turbo conversion, is this the Garrett T25 turbo? If so every 2nd generation Talon/Eclipse came stock with one of these and you can find them at thepartstrader.com all day long for under 300$.

Also you can have one of these further tricked out by a number of different turbo specialists to a T-28.

Please let me know if this is true.

Thanks

Default Not even close to being the same...

We're talking different housing, and turbo
technology as well. The GT25 is a ballbearing turbo, it doesn't use a standard style shaft.
It spools quicker than standard turbos, and it is relatively new. It has nothing in common with the T-toosmall turbos in the DSMs.

Default Just so you know...

a chipped A4 is not as fast as your car. I drove one and it was sweet. I drove before I new of what turbo characteristics would feel like, but I don't remember it having any lag. Don't get me wrong, the A4 is a great car. But extracting the performace of a true sports car is not easy at 3200 lbs with a poor tranny.

Not all GT25s are ball bearing. The design is also very old, dates to the 1950s.

To further confuse the issue, there are many GT25 configurations.

Not really. The GT25 that APR uses is a 1990's design, NOT 1950's
