Help! Extinguisher mount?
Does anyone have any experience on where to mount an extinguisher in an S4. Needs to be within reach of the driver. All the panels around the passenger footwell are plastic. My current thought is to remove the rear seat cushion and find a convenient bolt on which to mount the bracket. Any suggestions would be appreciated.Need it for this weekend Virginia City Hillclimb.

Well..

You can bolt it here. As you can see it is directly under the glovebox on the plastic panel. I can reach the clasp from my seat with no problem and the unit is very stirdy. Unless you are upside down, on fire, and trapped with a locked seat belt, you should be ok. The best place to put at 'mobile' extinguisher (2lb) is where the dual cup holders are (need to pop out the cup holders). It then can be bolted directly to the bracket. Everyone should have them - even if they're in the trrunk, imho.

According to ETKA, Audi sells an extinguisher...
...and bracket for the S4. Seems they would have an idea about where to put it? Since it is shown as an accessory, there isn't a diagram showing placement.
Don't bother calling the brain trust at AoA, they probably don't even know they sell this item. Just call customer service at Audi AG and see if they have any ideas.
I agree that everyone should carry one (I have one burned-down car to my name, btw), if not for yourself, then for the poor bastard on the side of the road with his Fiero on fire (actually, as long as everyone is safe, maybe better to let that car burn).
Anyway, Nick N's placement looks really good. Make sure it is secure.

Re: According to ETKA, Audi sells an extinguisher...
Thanks all for the suggestions. I though of mounting it against the passenger head restraint posts but we ended up putting it on the floor just in front of the passenger seat. I have not yet seen the actual installation but apparently there are two small bolts in that area and we had some sort of mounting fashioned and attached the bracket to that.
