Default Help... KO4 issue...

2000 A4 1.8TQM
Current setup - KO4 kit (same as the ones from AWE) with exhaust and Garrett ECU provided by my shop, Shine Racing.
Previous setup - stock KO3 with APR chip and stock exhaust.

I just came back from Lime Rock. Temperature range during the day was 32-53F and dry. After 3-4 laps, the car lost significant amount of power (less than my previous setup). This happened every session. Anyone familiar with this issue? Has this been documented? I will certainly address this issue with my shop but wanted to ask you wizards first. Thanks.

If the power went down below stock than you probably have a boost leak.

Couldn't possibly be heat soak given how cold it was. I'll certainly check for leaks when I bring the car in for check.

maybe timing was pulled because the intake charge was getting too hot and the stock ic failed.

KO4 kit (with Garrett chip) is not a working solution for someone who likes to take his car to the track. The only other time I felt something like this was when outside temp was in the upper-90s and humid (with stock KO3, stock exhaust and APR chip)... after 10-15 laps. I did get a ride with an instructor who had the MTM KO4 kit. His car pulled strong the entire session. I was led to believe that the intake temp with KO4 and aftermarket exhaust was actually lower than KO3 with a chip. Hmmmm?

Default I think he's saying that the power (presumably after heat-soak) was lower than the K03 under same...

...circumstances. Could this happen?? K04 should be able to heat exhaust gases higher, right? Sorry, just wondering, and can't think of any more obvious reason he lost power.

Default you need the J31 program and an FMIC....

or at least just an FMIC. A bunch of people track their car with a K04 and an FMIC and love it...
