Default how big can you bore a 5cyl?

If there are guys out there that have bored their 5cyl, please let me know. I have a 92 Transporter that uses the 5cyl 10V motor. It has 81mm bore. Can I safely bore it to 83.5mm? The other thing is the head gasket. Which head gasket can accomodate that bore?

For the HG and OS pistons, talk to EuroSpecSport. Pretty much the only place you can get those readily, and not too expensive, but still expensive.

The largest factory OS bore is 83mm for ANY 5cyl, and I would never go past that. The walls between each cylinder become quite thin even at that point. Can also increase the compression ratio with the new pistons, for more power, as long as you can get the needed fuel in the combustion chamber. The '92, since its EFI, may be trickier to do that with than the older CIS 10v motors.
