How many knock sensors does the 1.8T engine have? 4?
1 per cylinder would make sense, but are there any more or less? Where would I find them?
Also, does anyone know what the electrical connection on the back of the engine block would be? On my '97, the connection piece is blue. It sits right under the black metal crankcase ventilation line. Any clues?
Thanks!
S.

1 I think.. Most inline engines need only 1
There's a cam position sensor and the combination of the signals from the knock sensor and cam position sensor will tell you exactly which cyl is knocking.

Connector on the back sounds like the ECT sensor
The Engine Coolant Temp sensor is blue and sits in a little pot on the back of the block.
Mine went bad once and the engine occasionally wouldn't start.
