Increasing RPM's HELP!
Mostly when my car shifts from 3rd to 4th the RPMS race from 3,000 to 7,000. Eventhough the RPM's are increasing the car's power stays the same and my speed does not increase at all This also happen in other gears but not as often. One other time this occurs is when you are at very low PRM's and hit the gas, the car starts to flutter.
Just got a call from dealer saying that there is nothing wrong with my car? I am very confused especially when i thought I was going to break down a few different time.
Any answres or help.

Automatic trans? If not, it sounds like a slipping clutch, which you should smell!
If it's an automatic, first check the fluid level per the instructions in the manual. A very low trans fluid level might cause what you describe.
If the fluid smells burnt...that's a bad sign.
I am assuming that you are at or near full throttle (accelerator pedal to the floor) when this overspeed occurs. IMO, clutches or bands in the automatic aren't being applied correctly causing the slipping. If this continues, you'll cook the trans. Back off the gas when it occurs and see if it hooks back up.
Take the dealer service person for a ride and demonstrate the condition to him/her.
If this is a manual transmission, it's most probably a clutch. The demo ride should convince the dealer, if the smell of burned clutch lining doesn't.
Good luck!

Re: thanks, I had to take the dealer for a ride to convince him
They told me nothing was wrong and that 2 people took the car out, I refused to pay bill till I took it out and saw for myself. Of course it was still happening and the dealer finally realized. Once agin back in the shop today
He did say something about th IMO also, hopefully it is that rather than the tranny.
