Default Elaboration...

Hiya,

Try a search on the archives here with the term "TAP", you will find most posts deal with flawed workmanship and poor customer service.

Down below a few posts you will see another TAP dependability debate (see link).

Two products of theirs I have knowledge of (through friends) that are flawed are their header for the 1.8T and the K03 Sport.
Headers are known for poor fit and cracking.
K03 Sport problems should be self-evident from the article posted above.

My question to TAP is why try to rework a K03 with a smaller housing to do the job of an already produced, street tested (by Audi of all things) K04 that just bolts right on anyway, with the larger housing?

Seems silly to me, both turbos have been around for many years....

Some people still swear by TAP, I know more people that swear at them...

Look at just the numbers of K04 dealers vs. modded K03 and you should get an idea which is the better route.

Cheers!

Default in the middle of new engine install right now, thanks to TAP chip

had a stage I for a while, then did exhaust and intake and went stage II, and at 66k miles, out of warranty, #3 plug disintegrated due to, in most opinions, detonation caused by poor chip design. posted this a couple weeks ago when it happened. 45mph on a crowded freeway.
expensive 'mod', this new engine....and i'm going MTM, not TAP.
