Modding the TT?
I don't have the exact numbers - but my recollection was that there was little pressure difference in front of the IC core and behind it at speed, and little variation with or without the louvers. I have not tested my new FMIC.
heres a good article on the subject...<ul><li><a href="http://www.autospeed.com/A_0754/page1.html">http://www.autospeed.com/A_0754/page1.html</a</li></ul>
Whatever the numbers are for the Passat, I would think the TT's would be a little worse, as it actually deflects air around the nose a little better than the Passat.
I was basing my comments on my own experience and should have stated such. Out of curiosity I looked at the times recorded in Road and Track and found that there were 22 cars with 0-60 times between 4.5 and 5.2 none of which could run under 13.0 1/4's. Even the mighty Z06 Vette with a 4.6 0-60 stopped the clocks at 13.0 in the quarter. The Ferrari 360 with a 0-60 of 4.5 was the "slowest" one to run below 13.0 (12.9) 1/4 mile.
I suspect my numbers would be closer to reality for a TT then your Vette's numbers. It takes big horsepower and/or very light weight to run slow 0-60 times and fast 1/4 mile times, agreed? The other scenario would be a high horsepower car experiencing a lot of initial tire slippage (no slicks?) which hooks up further down the strip thus resulting in out of whack 0-60 times vs 1/4 mile times.
I own a modded 225hp TT Quattro Coupe (Chip, CDA, Exhaust, etc.) and I can tell you it ain't going to run no 5.0 0-60's and be able to turn 12 second 1/4's.
GRINS, Curt
However, whatever you reduce your 0-60 by, will pass onto your 1/4 mile time (like shave 0.2 seconds off of 0-60, and you'll shave at least 0.2 seconds off of 1/4 mile time)
