Default Need help with new brake rotors - Can the Performance board come through?

I am reposting here as my 15 minutes of fame on the 96-01 board is over and now I my post must be on page 3 or something. I did not get much help on the rotor question. I'm hoping for better info here.

Since I am Mr. Cheap-mod, I am upgrading my front rotors now that the stock ones are warping. I have 70K on them + 2 days at Road America.

What should I get:
- Stock rotors, for that cool stock look
- ATE Power Discs
- PowerStop drilled discs, not recommended for track
- PowerStop sloted discs
- EBC Turbo grooved discs, with blind holes
- A8 disks, but then I have to pay $$ for the TT caliper carriers (remember I'm Mr. Cheap-mod and the stock carriers aren't broken)

I intend to do a couple of track days a year with Mintex C-tech and normally drive with Mintex Red Box pads.

Thanks,

Steve-O (98.0 A4 2.8QMS + 01 Passat GLX 4Motion)

I like the Brembo slotteds I got 2 years ago now. Lots of track on them. APR had them before

Default if you're so cheep you'll never do new calipers - how 'bout stock rotors, frozen & slotted?

Are they better than some APR, ATE, or EBC slotted rotors?

Default i don't have 'em yet (anyone else chime in?). but i've heard cryo works well and

makes the rotors much longer lasting and resistant to warping. i'll be trying them out as soon as I trash mine. as they say on their page, they'll cryo any new rotor you want, so if your heart is set on the groovy oval ATE slotting or EBC dimples you could potentially just send 'em to F-R...

i have to say EBC 'dimples' are a clever idea by them. it says "we know slots are generally better than holes, but we also know kids need a cool disk to show off they think holes are cooler than slots. therefore we now sell slotted rotors with dimples so your wet-NOS-injected-Civic buddies still think you're cool" but anyway...

otherwise i know guys who've had good luck with the ATE's on older cars. i'm not sure they are any different from stock other than the groovy slots, but even so the price was good last time i checked... need others to vote in on whether same is true for other brands.

Default Hey, I pass the freezing guys are on my way home!

I drive through Burnsville to and from work. I will have to stop in to see them.

I was happy with EBC Turbo Groove and Porterfield R4 on the track (Mintex RB for street)
