Need opinions on pinging since search engine is down...
Got a couple of opinions in the A4 forum but would like more views.
My car pings (sounds like a ping-pong ball dribbling in my engine).
I'm assuming that it probably is my chip since it's from TAP. (Don't mean to bash) but I can't exactly test another chip since I only have one.
I also contemplated my BOV, but the damn thing pings even after about 5 minutes of cold start-up so it can't be the BOV since no air is excaping/exiting into atmosphere.
I'm already running 93 octane, should I try changing my plugs?
Doing a Fuel Injector flush/clean additive?
Has anyone heard of PREP(Pressure Relief Engine Protection) Plugs that have a pressure relief valve to help in situations like this?
Any opinion and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
DAVID

Do you have a boost gauge?
If so, what boost are you achieving during boost? Is it ambient temperature hot? Have you looked at your plugs to determine relative A/F mixture? Where do you get 93 octane?

Still waiting for my A Pillar mount...
Have both electric boost and egt gauge. I don't have much knowledge of where the temps should be, but when I get them installed, the only thing that I'm aware of to look for is to see how constant the boost is.
What temps on the egt should be normal/abnormal?
Also, the performance shop near me wants to charge me $50 for the install of my boost gauge,
and $80 for my egt gauge. Does that sound about fair?
Thanks in advance...

have you tried gas from somewhere else?
not to sound stupid, but I have had pinging once, and it was with 93 octane from a Shell station.
First chance I got I went back to Mobil

Have tried 3 different gas brands, but not diff octane
I wonder if I went down on octane if that might help. Just concerned that I need the higher.
At this point, I still think that it is the chip. Only thing that I can do at this point until I get/change to diff chip is to try a injection flush, change plugs and change octane. I wonder what would happen if I put an octane booster?
Thanks for your input
