Default New Brakes!

Hello,
I am going to upgrade my rotors this week and I was wondering people's opinions about ATE powerdisc rotors or Zimmerman Cross-drilled rotors. I am going to use the stock size and just change the rotors. Should I also change the pads? What do you all recommend? Any suggestions about a good online place to buy them? Thanks in Advance, feel free to email!

Thanks,
ToddM

Default You should do pads and rotors at once, but what you mentioned is not really an upgrade as there will

be no difference in braking perofrmance with any of those products.

Default Wet Braking...Slotted helps?

I was looking to do this modification, since it really isn't an upgrade to help with wet braking issues. I have the rain shields behind my rotors, but I still get a fair amount of wet braking delay. I figured that the ATE powerdiscs would help to dissipate the water build-up on the rotors.....I wasn't really looking for any dry braking advantages, except less brake dust....I am interested in your opinions on this issue? I should have mentioned that to begin with, sorry.....

Thanks
ToddM

Default Re: New Brakes!

I just recently replaced my stock rotors and pads with Neuspeed's slotted rotors and Mintex Reds with good results. I'm not sure if it's normal with this combination, but I seem to get better performance once the brakes are warmed up.

Good Luck!

I noticed the same thing with my Mintex Reds & stock rotors. One or 2 stops seems to do it.

Default Nitpicking ...

.... Whenever possible, you should bed in new rotors with old pads; and then switch to new pads.

Default I suggest u change pads and I would recommend cross drilled over slotted for the A4(cont.)

I find that for the track the brakes fade quickly and there are no cooling ducts available or easily 'modable' for the A4. The cross drilled will keep them slightly cooler and also they are excellent for wet braking.

Default Go w/ ATE slotted, opinion of experts

seems to be that in most applications cross drilled brakes don't increase performance and can cause problems (cracking around the holes if not radiused properly).

But the cross-drilled rotors still look the best
