Default Next Audi Project: some questions regarding custom turbo setup with B6 1.8 or 3.0...

Ive posted ?'s on the S4 board, b6 a4, and b5 forums without much answer besides coming here to ask.
I plan on getting a wagon b6 w/ 6 speed, either 1.8 or 3.0..not sure yet.

Currently i have a 2.7t A6, full K04 kit...i love it, but decided to sell it. I need a wagon to haul boxes of clothing, snowboarding gear, 2 dogs, and kegs (yes!)...i plainly just need more room...anyway...

I debated going the route of the 1.8t, and boring to a 1.9 or even 2.0. Big Nipper's project sounds promising...but im just not so sure the size of the 1.9 will be ample enough for 500+ hp that he wants to have.

Next comes the 3.0...its custom built by Cosworth (heard great things from the strength of their products). Id sure like to have a custom turbo-charged setup with that engine...larger displacement then the 2.7, and im just 'assuming' right now that there should be ample room to house a turbocharger. I understand that there will have to be custom fabricated parts to handle anything over 400hp. I know that HPA just did their R32 bi-turbo demon...simply amazing. Would those be the guys i should be talking to about this maybe? Any contact info for them??

Im not looking for the 1/4 mile champion status here, as i dont bother going to the strip, I just want something faster than my current setup, while still remaining somewhat 'sleeper status'. I wouldnt mind if the car broke into the 11's either. Ill be doing Stasis suspension, and sway bars, and camber links...anyway...

Any help you guys could give me pertaining to if the 3.0 could handle a turbo charger, or if the 1.8 IS infact strong enough to handle that kind of power...would be very nice.
thanks for the help!

Default That's uncharted territory, so expect a nightmare.....

fabrication, testing, tuning, none of it is done, and you'll need bottomless pockets to even have a hope of pulling it off. A 2.7T with K04's is pretty fast, so to do it better, and reliably, is gonna cost you a fortune, not to mention TONS of downtime.

Might as well try to import an RS6 avant!

Default i realize its uncharted territory...but i dont see it costing more..

than a k04 setup on a 2.7 if they know EXACTLY what needs to be done.

I already have a couple people who think it could definately be done.

HPA motorsports is one of them..

i mean, look at their biturbo R32 =O

Default Have you looked at the pricing for any of their stuff?

Major $$$ for everything they sell. I'd imagine a custom one off 3.0 (either TT or a single) would approach very high levels.

Default since you're in CA, try Innovative Turbo in Simi Valley or ATP up in NorCal

they both do custom turbo work.

Default LOL..........I'd like to see the bills when it's all done. If it costs less than a K04 install...

On an S4, and is faster and more refined, I'll eat my words.

I say it can't be done for that price, especially not a one-off.

Default So you want something as fast, or faster than, a K04'd 2.7....

I can tell you right now, you probably will not be happy with a 1.8, hell, even a 2.0 probably isn't enough.

Sure, you can match the HP numbers out of a 2.7 with a 2.0 (~400HP), but you won't have the low-end torque (~475 ft-lbs!), and will have to wait until ~3500-4000 RPM for power (depending on turbo/HP level required)

The new 3.0 is all aluminum, so I think it remains to be seen if it can handle high HP numbers.

You could probably do a 2.7T swap into a B6, assuming there is room for the turbos. It would be a lot easier then trying to do a one-off 3.0

Default Stock chip and Split Second A/F controller tuned by me....

At least for right now

ATP seems to be doing some decent stuff, but I wouldn't run their software unless my car was on their dyno (no chance)

PES has said they'd do chip-tuning (to a limited extent), but I haven't heard of anyone who has gone that route.
