VR6 would be simpler to get up and running imo

But I'd probably look at other manufacturers too - maybe a Mazda 2.0 V6

Given the packaging issues with intercooler and heat, the 1.8t ain't cutting it. At that point we'd just get some warmed over Alfa engine that we know fits, and max out the tuning. Want the torque of the VR6 and the sound - which if you know Alfas, is half the reason to get the car;-)

Not too worried about fitting it a longitudinal setting, since we've done this with other cars and have a killer machinist. Just need to make sure it can physically fit - for the most part anyway - that's what welders are for. The lower portion between the front suspension is pretty narrow and we can't fudge there.

I found a web with a lot of info on many engines - autozine.com

But no VR6. They do have a Veyron engine dimensions, so maybe you can cut the dimensions in half and divide the long side by 3/4

I wonder if you can rough it's size based on the A3 engine compartment. It's gotta be a tight fit in there.

which are already a massive size upgrade over the original 155 tires) which is going to make that old solid axle design very unhappy - and probably break it to boot. The stock engine is incredibly tiny (1300 to 1600cc), and there is no room for intercoolers, radiators, a/c condenser, power steering coolers, oil coolers, etc.

It weighs well under 1000kg. The whole car is insanely tiny by modern standards.

Italian cars aren't all about going fast. It's about *how* you go - maybe quickly, maybe not;-) I love the sound of the VR6, the creamy power delivery, and the progressive power feed is very Italian, so it's not out of character with the car.

Do you think the 12V VR6 will fit better? It looks like a much smaller top. Good power from it.
