PES Charger prep?? Have 55k miles on it now..
I am interested in supercharging my 98 A4 2.8QM, it has 55k miles on it.. I was told with that many miles on it, some things would need to be done otherwise I would shortly after installation, break stuff..
Already done
-CenterForce clutch
-custom exhaust
-carbon hood (well its in the mail :O)
-adr m-sport rims (also on their way)

Re: Who told you that, and did they say what stuff would break?
i dont remember exactly, one thing was about how the head's had already settled and the head bolts had already set to a given pressure load, and being that a charger would up the pressure that it would cause stress, and blow a head gasket???

I haven't experienced any of those problems yet.
I installed the G2 at 33k, and have put about 24k on the car since. Rob Andrews has a '99 on which he logged 20k with the G1 installed, and now has driven 42k with the G2. For more info from PES G2 supercharger owners, check out the link.

Supercharged Group

your opinions
What has been your experience with the charger up to this point.. Overall evaluation.. Likes dislikes.. We 2.8ers are at a loss for the power growth that the 1.8's have, unless we go big.... I hate the power limitations I have currently and want to go the PES way. But, also I want the car to be an everyday driver, and I would rather avoid monstrous engine problems later, hence why I asked if there was anything I could do prior that would increase the longevity of the car.

Re: your opinions
Your questions have been pretty much answered by several of us G2'ers at the Supercharged group under Files. I like the power increase, reliability, supercharger over turbocharger means of aspiration, throttle response and ease of installation. The car can be driven stocklike with a light pedal, or you can make it scoot with moderate to heavy foot pressure. If you don't hammer the car constantly, I see no reason why the mechanical reliability and longevity would be any different than a non-modded, properly maintained car. Your mileage is getting close to what some owners, not just G2'ers, would consider the preventive maintenance replacement of the water pump, thermostat, timing belt and tensioner. I would recommend that you replace your vacuum hoses [size 3.5mm] during the G2 install to help insure you have no vacuum leaks and because with the manifold removed it gives you easy access to the combination valves. Good luck with your decision.
