Default Just for the engine.....EDIT

For my 2.0 conversion I just sold.....$5500 in parts, $600 in labor(boring, honing, balancing, assembly, machining for clearances).

Then there's $3800(turbo, manifold, downpipe, ceramic coating, FMIC, custom intake piping, etc), roughly $1200 in piggie back tuning/monitoring components.

what did you use for the 2.0 block? did you use a 1.8 opened to 2.0 or mod a 2.0?

Default upper limit 40k$ - w/everything done much farther than it had to be

Probably 20-25k$ in block/crank/pistons/pins/pumps/girdle/mains/special bearings/friction and heat coatings/polish of inside of clock/machining/ and trial assy (5 times). You really shouldntuse this as an estimate of what is needed. Everything that could be done was done and by people who make top dollar bcause they go too far. A block I would trust would only cost a little over 10k$, but this was a VW ABA and everything had to be done as a custom. You can actually use the crank from the ABA to save some money, but the pist/rods are total custom.

Default For a block or bolt ons? How much HP you want, how much money you have?

All this info would be needed to make a good recomendation. If you can afford and want to keep and drive car a lot vs dyno or strip queen or a track motor? what are your end goals?
I couldnt recommend unless I know what you want and most people I know do the higher end stuff.
