Default PowerGasket

<center><img src="http://www.newsouthperformance.com/images/gasket/gasket.jpg"></center><p>Would this fit a 2000 1.8t A4. If not could it be done another way and would it be worth it. 5% power increase for 60 bucks sounds like a good deal?<ul><li><a href="http://www.newsouthperformance.com/gasket.htm">Link</a></li></ul>

Default a couple of stage 3 guys have it and like it

I've heard a few people complain about rough idle with it, but most like it. It is made for the transverse engines, but it can be dremeled sp tje ports match up to an longitudnal. I know they are planning to release a longitudnal specific one at some point...not sure when. I twould be worth it to call and talk to them and tell them there is an interest for a longitudnal one.

Default yeha... that is the polymer one... I have the evolution tuning phelonic one...

works well on my 2001 a4... although I haven't been able to beat it up in the summer yet, since it isn't summer here... install ain't all that bad... my intake manifold is always cold as a rock...

read this honda link for more info... the recovery time after coasting on the express way is better...

like an EFK or an intercooler, you don't GAIN power, but you keep the power you had...<ul><li><a href="http://www.hondata.com/heatshield.html">http://www.hondata.com/heatshield.html</a</li></ul>

Default I wonder if that has any negative effects on cylinder head cooling....

the intake manifold could act as a heatsink of sorts.

It has been said that the #4 cylinder runs the hottest because that is where the coolant leaves the head. The intake manifold could possibly transfer some of the heat away from #4.

Default One of the guys on our forum performed an experiment with this gasket...

and his vag-com data clearly showed cooler charge air temperatures and more timing advance over the stock config. The only potential problem is that on the TT engines the injectors have a split and bent spray pattern so their position is critical for getting good mixing between the air and the fuel before entering the cylinder. The thick gasket might screw that up some by making the injectors eccentric to the flow field but we can't measure that with our crude tools.

Default I think that was the Phenolic Insulator he tested...

I think you're referencing the TT guy who tested the phenolic insulator from EVO, whereas this is not phenolic and from NewSouth. They both have the same function, but are slightly different.

You can see my writeup below.
