Default question for you guys regarding an exhaust manifold being ported and polished...

i bought one a while back with the intentions of installing it after doing my KO4 J31 upgrade but have decided against that upgrade.

the guy i bought it from said it was ported and polished from spp. now it's used and i am trying to sell it but i have no idea if it actually is ported and polished since its dirty from being used. how can i tell if it is p&p? i can post pics later but im at work right now

If you can get a stock manifold, you can measure the ports with a caliper.

How does it match up to the gasket?

Default extrude hone before and after

as you can see the extrude hone didnt remove much material. what it did was smooth out the inside from a very rough cast surface to a high to mildy polished surface.

where the extrude hone material encountered greater resistance to flow is where it was polished more.

before

after

Default Should be a nearly exact match to the gasket. The OEM ports tend to be a bit smaller than the gasket

opening. If it matches the gasket it is likely ported.

Spray some WD40 in there and see if you can find the polished part.

Default yeah that definately looks gasket matched. (which i plan to do to mine)

i'd see if you can clean it and see if it looks smooth under the crap.

BTW it looks like the car was running rich. as you can see my manifold wasnt black at all.
