Default ray hall GT25 Turbo Kits

I can't remember who has this, but I had some questions. First, what did you need to do for this to fit in your car? Also, where did you get the necessary parts, didi you need an intake, a header, etc.? I would be very interested in doing something similar. Thanks in advance.

Lucas is your guy but I don't think Ray Hall sells any Audi kits. He just makes Turbos...

Ray sells the turbo only, and he said I will need to do some homework on what is needed to make it work on the Audi. I was hoping Lucas had some input for me as to what to buy, and where.

I think Lucas has listed a lot of what he had to do earlier in this forum, a search may be in order

Default Are you going from a K03 to GT25?

If so you will need the following...
- New turbo from Ray (he will size turbo)
- Custom turbo manifold (either buy or make)
- Special adaptor to mate exhaust with turbo (either buy or make)
- Completely new exhaust (hi flow cat. and rest)
- Larger injectors (don't know what size exactly)
- Custom programmed chip
- New, larger heat exchanger with required pipes and fittings
- A new bypass valve
- Maybe a stiffer front motor mount
- Maybe a high performance clutch (will need it sooner or later)

and probably more stuff that I can't think of at the moment.

Default Ixne on the IC and the DV

Upgrade not necessary, unless you go over 300hp.

Everything you said "buy or make" or "custom" you have to do yourself, or design and have made. $$,$$$$ Hand built stuff has a habit of breaking once in a while - not good.

I guess it depends on the workmanship of the parts for the most part on how reliable they come out.

Default Even Lucas has had problems.

R&D involves testing, making sure things don't break and redesigning them if they do. This applies to planes, trains and automobiles. No matter how well a custom part is built it is not tested. You can actually have parts fail because they are overbuilt, or because the welds are stronger than the base material, etc.

Shoddy parts are always less reliable, but excellent custom parts aren't dead reliable.

Default Yeah, i did, all looks great now...

Any development work you do, you will run into probs etc, i suppose thats why they call it developent.
You can break the strongest item, no mater how well engineeered it, crap happens.
The Far easiest solution is to purchase a complete kit from a reputable vendor, and i firstly recomend this option above all else.
I did not get a kit, as i wanted a GT turbo before anyones kit was availble, so i had to do it all, with help from a number of very helpfull vendors.
The Most Helpful vendors have that have assisted me was: APR, GAIC, GreedSpeed and Ray Hall Turbos.
Now I have a Fully rebuilt engine with:
Scrick Cams
Head port work
Ceramic coatings
4 into 1 exhaust manifold
Garrett GT25/35 Hybrid Turbo
APR/JE Pistons and APR Rods (From their up coming Stage 4 Kit)
GreedSpeed Front Mount Intercooler
Apexi AVC/R Boost controller
APR Twin Plate Clutch (not for Soft ***** hee hee.)
plus a number of other smaller items.
I have been playing and developing this for over a year now.
Power wise, stock S4 forget it, chipped S4 may be a little fun but i definately believe i still have it.
