Reverse Engineering a Tune
Anyone have any ideas about how to RE a tune file? Objective: Keep the tune file for unlimited reuse across unlimited cars.
I purchased a third party do-it-at-home tune with their proprietary cable. I took a before and after log of my PC to figure out where the tune might have been downloaded locally, but most of the file extensions are nonsensical. There were about 200 changes made to my pc after installing the tune and software it so I'll be parsing through that for awhile. I'm also in the process of RE-ing the actual tuner software to see if I can learn more from it. This is a DSG tune for a B8 S4/S5, and I might get a stage 1 ECU tune soon too.
I'm wondering how else I can tackle this and if its been done before. Is it possible to interface with the car and extract the current tune? What language would this code be written in / type of file should I be looking for?
