Second question regarding custom setups.
The T3/T4 turbo is a older model turbo. I enjoyed it in my previous car and they are relatively cheaper turbos as well. I didn't have the ball bearing cartridge with that turbo. But if really care about faster spooling in the turbo, then go for a newer turbo. The GT-25 & T-28 seem to be popular choices.
I agree with Mike that going custom will be more expensive than buying a "kit." There are enough people on AW that have these kits and there's lots of good information sources right here! But if you go custom, you're going into unchartered territory - and you won't have anyone to really ask. If you bought the kit from PES or APR, I'm sure they'll be able to assist you with your problems. But if you go custom, if you, your shop, and your mechanic don't have answers,... you'll be kinda stuck - regardless of how much $$$ you have. Downtime is a b*tch!
The safe bet is going with an available mainstream kit as a start. Then you can start adding mods to it as you seem fit. Make sure you know what you're doing before you do it. Planning & research is essential.
Good luck!,
Steve
If you go with a T3/T4, it will probably work OK too, unless you go with a 2.0 conversion at the same time......
