Default But I thought the big prob with internal WG turbos was the inability to waste the gas adequately

which would mean that a lower boost levelon a high flow turbo could compound the problem? Am I stating this correctly? But if you have a hi flowing turbo which pushes a good deal of air down low (the big adv. of the ball bear studd) and the boost chip was set at 20 rather than at 26 then the wasre gate would have to handle a greater amouny of waste gas, which is its inherant problem. This will definately cause boost creap and may throw flags to the ECU and throw back timing or something else you must work around. If you meant that the engine is not being built for over 360-380hp (which I think is the limit for an int WG turbo w/out engine damage in long run) thrn I agree w/you. {ls. correct my thinking, internal WG turbo's are fairlyy new to me.

Default ermm... compressor has nothing to do with downpipe...

and if you meant turbine, the answer is no it doesn't help.

Default you are correct.

boost creep is internal wastegate's main problem. however, GT turbo came built in, and this turbo is rated anywhere from 350 - 400hp, granted you could get more power by not being on the efficiency range on the compressor map. but i am not doing that, i am sure when they built this with internal wastegate, they made it vent enough gas for 350 - 400hp.

therefore i concluded external wastegate would be waste of money and time.

The downpipe is related to both if you're talking about clocking the turbo.

turbo can't be clocked, compressor scroll hits manifold. and he said clock compressor, not turbo.

Default yeah thats what I meant....

I didn't know if you had to orient something different b/c of the clocking of either side...
